Position: Director of Information Technology
Location: On-Site at either West Columbia or Fort Mill, South Carolina location.
Role Overview: Reporting directly to the CFO, the Director of Information Technology (IT) will lead the day-to-day operations of the IT department for MBP Group. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage and integrate IT services from multiple acquired companies into a centralized IT model. The IT Director will act as the subject matter expert on core technologies, particularly the Microsoft Workplace stack, and collaborate closely with the CFO and the executive leadership team including the virtual Chief Information Officer (CIO) to ensure seamless technology integration and service delivery across the organization.
Objectives of this Role:
- Design and implement IT strategies and infrastructure to support the needs of the business.
- Manage internal IT staff and external IT contractors.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive and cohesive IT infrastructure.
- Assess, identify, and mitigate IT risks including hardware, network, end-user, and security risks.
- Develop and implement annual IT operating plan goals.
- Help develop and support short and long-term operational IT strategies.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Strategy: Direct the IT operations, ensuring delivery of consistent and high-quality technology services. Develop and execute IT strategies in alignment with the company’s objectives.
- Integration of IT Services: Oversee the consolidation of IT systems and services from newly acquired companies into a centralized framework. Ensure that all integrations are smooth, secure, and support the overall business strategy.
- Technology Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert on core technologies, including the Microsoft Workplace suite (Office 365, Teams, Azure). Ensure the architecture and deployment of these technologies align with business needs.
- Collaboration and Planning: Work closely with the CIO to plan IT initiatives that align with strategic business goals. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and change management strategies during technology transitions.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors, overseeing contract negotiations and the implementation of new technologies. Ensure vendor deliverables meet quality standards and contractual obligations.
- Project Management: Lead and manage IT projects, including timelines, budgets, resources, and risk management. Monitor project progress and adjust as necessary to ensure successful project completion.
- Policy and Procedure Development: Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure that the IT infrastructure supports the company’s goals and regulatory requirements.
- Travel: 20% travel to business units within the MBP group for regular onsite visits, meetings, and collaborative engagements.
Professional Skills:
- Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse IT team.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to explain complex IT concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop strategic plans and make sound decisions that affect the overall IT infrastructure and business operations.
- Problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capability to oversee complex IT solutions.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Microsoft Technologies: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Workplace technologies, including Office 365, Entra ID, Azure, Teams, Intune, Autopilot & OneDrive.
- Systems Integration: Experience with systems integration, particularly in merging IT operations from multiple acquisitions into a centralized model.
- Network and Security: Understanding of network architecture, data security practices, and compliance regulations.
- IT Management: Proficiency in IT service management and project management software and methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with implementing/supporting ERP systems.
- Experience with multiple sites, remote work tools.
- Experience with virtualization platforms.
- Experience with VoIP systems.
- Certifications in Project Management (PMP), IT Service Management (ITIL), or Microsoft/Cisco certifications are beneficial.
- Experience in the manufacturing vertical.
- Experience in manufacturing during periods of corporate acquisition is highly desirable.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science highly preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
- At least three years of experience managing an IT department.
